New Features in Lightwright 4

(Click here to see what the new worksheet looks like!)

  • Focus charts database (with focus center, shutter cuts, beam & axis settings, photos, sketches, scenery needs, and general notes. Focus charts stay with the lights, and can even be printed on Channel Hookups.
  • Work Notes database, including status, priority, and work note category (such as work, focus, shopping - whatever). Work notes can be printed out in a variety of forms, including in order by priority and in order by position, channel, or dimmer. They can be viewed in their own window as well as in the worksheet under the lights they refer to, and optionally printed on standard paperwork.
  • Moving Light attribute lists automatically manage multi-row instruments, up to 100 different libraries per show. Changing the number or description of entries in the list automatically changes the appropriate worksheet rows
  • Single-click collapsible worksheet rows to hide all of those moving light attributes when you don't want to see them. You can also choose certain attributes to always show, and printed paperwork can either show all of the attributes or hide all but the ones you choose to be seen.
  • Channel and Dimmer number capacity up to 32,000 (that's 62 full universes of DMX), and all number categories can now use decimals to indicate attributes
  • Macintosh version runs natively in OSX or later, does NOT require Classic
  • Expanded information on instrument types, including note, weight, CAD symbol, etc.
  • Worksheet cells automatically turn red when you make changes in them, and stay that way until you reset them. You can also view, export, and print your changes as well as get regular printouts with the changes shown in red.
  • You can share your worksheet changes with other Lightwright users by exchanging a small "shuttle" file that quickly updates their copy of the show file with your changes, including any lights you may have deleted.
  • You can send other users your work notes, and they will be automatically merged with whatever notes they already have in their copy of the show file.
  • Watermarks (such as "Preliminary" or "Final" or any graphic you can create) can be printed behind all printouts.
  • Layout includes "First Page" and "Next" buttons so you can "preview" your printouts
  • Worksheet includes new Bookmark buttons as well as a "Go Back" button.
  • Context-sensitive menus (right-click for commonly-used commands)
  • Mouse wheel support

Those are just the highlights - there are dozens (maybe even hundreds?) of other small improvements throughout the software. If you'd like a copy of the LW4 Upgrade Notes, which detail all of the changes from version 3 to version 4, it is available here in downloadable .pdf format.

Beginning with Lightwright 4, there is a special Student License ($135)! The software is the same as the regular version, except that it is limited to a period of 3 years, and the word "STUDENT:" is printed on all paperwork at the bottom of each page along with the student's name. The student version is NOT upgradable to Lightwright 5 or beyond, but there is a "Student-to-Individual" upgrade rate available so that students can move up to the regular Individual Registration at any time. The student version is available ONLY to bona fide students with valid school ID.

Note: The printed catalog says a student watermark is printed on all paperwork, but this is no longer true.
