Registering Lightwright

Thank you for purchasing Lightwright!

Before you can begin using Lightwright and Beamwright, you will need to fill out a short form here and wait for us to send you an approval code that will activate your software. Please allow 2 business days for a reply.

Please, DO NOT CALL John McKernon to beg for your approval code to come quicker. If you are in a hurry to get your approval code, fill out the web site form immediately. Any other approach will slow down your approval, as the information John's computer needs to generate the approval code can only come from this web site.

If you do not receive your approval code by the third business day, please check your spam folder. AOL users in particular may find their approval code shuttled into a spam folder without any apparent reason. if you still cannot locate your approval email, please give us a call or send us an email.

Enclosed with your Lightwright CD was a registration form with your serial number on it.
If it is missing, you cannot register.

You will need your Version 4 serial number in order to proceed.

If you are upgrading from Lightwright 3, you will also need your Version 3 serial number

If you are converting a student license to a regular Individual license, you will need your student license number.

Why do I have to wait $#@#$!@ two days?!?

Actually, in most cases it won't take anywhere near that long to get your approval code back to you. Most approval codes are sent out a few hours after they are received. John McKernon Software is a one-man business, and under normal circumstances John checks his email two to three times a day, and approval codes are automatically processed then. However, if he is in a meeting or someplace where it is difficult to check email, he may not be able to get an approval code out the same day it is received. The two business days simply gives him a cushion in case email is not readily available. Faxes are processed along with the email because they actually wind up in John's eFax mailbox.

If you don't receive a reply within two business days, please call John McKernon at (908) 387-1994 or send email to help2006@mckernon.com - occasionally the web server or email systems get clogged and mail has been known to get lost in the jumble of the internet.

Why do I have to get an approval code?

The approval code process protects both you and John McKernon Software. It ensures us you have gotten the right kind of license and aren't bootlegging the software, and it helps you by giving us the information we need to notify you when we find bugs in the software and issue updates to fix them.

Also, when you call with a technical support question you aren't a complete stranger. If you lose your disks, serial number, and/or approval code, you can call or email and we can give you the information you need immediately because we have your registration on file.

But I'm in a hurry! I need to use Lightwright RIGHT NOW!

Although Lightwright is a generally friendly program that you can sit down and use pretty much right out of the box, it is also a very large and complex piece of software. If you do not take some quiet time to sit down and explore its features and ways you can adapt them to your own way of working, you will be extremely frustrated and probably angry. Trying to learn Lightwright in a hurry is a Big Mistake. So sit down, take a deep breath, and relax. Then print out the Lightwright Getting Started and Reference manuals and work through them. After you feel comfortable, start that first "real" show.
